Sawbridgeworth Dental Practice has a great reputation, built over our forty years in the town. Ten thousand local residents of Sawbridgeworth and the surrounding areas choose to be patients at the practice, and many continue to come back even after moving abroad!
We believe it is essential to constantly improve the level of care provided, which is why we invest strongly in staff training and new equipment. For example we have converted to fully digital X-ray machines that produce much higher resolution pictures. These images allow us to identify and treat problems a lot sooner, before more invasive and expensive emergency procedures become necessary. We have also moved to a fully computerised patient record system which allows us to monitor your oral health in the long-term and to offer the treatment options that are right for you.
Patient safety is always our top priority. We surpass the Department of Health requirements in this regard, operating stringent staff procedures and utilizing advanced sterilization equipment.

Staff
- Mr Stephen Des ClayesPrincipal Dentist
Worked in a London practice and abroad as a Chief Dental Officer for a province in Papua New Guinea. This experience proved very useful when I took over the practice in 1990, as it has equipped me to continually improve both the care and quality of treatment we offer. I am firmly committed to the practice providing NHS dentistry for all those that need it. I see children (who are registered with me) and disabled patients on the NHS, both at the practice and at their home if they require. My primary focus, however, is on private dentistry because it better enables me to pursue excellence when freed from the constraints of NHS rationing. Private dentistry allows more time for consultation, and treatment with a much wider range of materials and procedures, achieving the best possible results.
