The Implant Experts

Anthony Bendkowski or ‘Ben’ to his team, is a specialist in oral surgery in practice limited to implant reconstructive surgery in London and the South East of England. He qualified from University College Hospital Dental School, London in 1982 and subsequently gained extensive experience in both hospital and practice-based oral surgery. He has over twenty five years of experience in both the surgical and restorative management of implant cases. He has a keen interest in all aspects of dental education and has lectured on and run bone augmentation and implant training courses, as well as lecturing on business skills for successful implant practice for a number of years. He is a Past President of the Association of Dental Implantology (UK) and an examiner for the Edinburgh Diploma in Implant Dentistry as well as for Membership in Oral Surgery for the Royal College of Surgeons, England. Clinically Ben undertakes all aspects of implant treatment, including Teeth in a Day/All on 4 surgery, aesthetic anterior tooth replacement, and complex cases involving extensive bone reconstruction.

Andrew is a Member of the Institute of Leadership and Management and manages both Mr Bendkowski’s London Clinic and our Maidstone Implant Centre. With a background in Government finance he brings a highly professional approach to the smooth running of the practices, including our work policies and the all important business of number crunching. The nurse training programme he developed whilst working at The Implant Experts was published in the professional journals and he has been short-listed by the Association of Dental Administrators and Managers (ADAM) for Practice Manager of the Year. Andrew joined the team in 2010 and he is married to Lisa, Mr Benkowski’s dental nurse, from whom he first gained his interest in implant dentistry. A registered FA/UEFA football coach, he works within the local community coaching junior football.

Sinead qualified from University College Cork, Ireland in 2002 and then moved to the UK and worked in a general dental practice in Essex for seven years. During this time, her postgraduate studies included a Certificate in Endodontics and following this over the course of one year, she completed Dr. Christopher Orr’s ‘Cosmetic and Aesthetic Restorative Dentistry ‘ course.More recently in 2010 Sinead completed a full-time Masters Degree in Conservative Dentistry at the Eastman Dental Hospital (UCL) London. This area of dentistry focuses on restoring and replacing missing teeth in a conservative manner. Since 2010 I have been a visiting lecturer for the ‘Hands On’ courses run at the Eastman Postgraduate Centre for Dentists preparing for their ORE examinations. This is an aspect of Dentistry that gives her great satisfaction. In 2013 she successfully gained membership to the Royal College of Surgeons of England’s Joint Dental Faculties. ‘Keeping up to date with new aspects of dentistry is very important to me and whilst I enjoy all aspects of general dentistry on a daily basis, implant dentistry is where my passion lies.In her spare time Sinead enjoys running, cycling and swimming but her real love is the Irish sport Camogie. It is a fun high energy sport that keeps her in touch with her Irish roots.

Dr Saleh qualified in 2003 from University of Glasgow. He later undertook various hospital posts and degrees at the Universities of Newcastle upon Tyne and Leicester, as well as, the Royal College of Surgeons of England. Through these degrees, Dr Saleh developed interests in restorative dentistry, oral surgery and sedation for anxious dental patients. He was recognised as a dentist with special interest in conscious sedation in 2007 and became a clinical lead for a multi-centre sedation referral network based in Lancashire, before joining the team at The Implant Experts.Dr Saleh is also currently a registrar in periodontology at Guys Hospital and Kings College London, where he is working on several research interests, such as predicting gum disease, for which he was recently awarded the Odontology President’s Clinical Research Prize by the Royal Society of Medicine. Dr Saleh actively participates in mentoring and training UK and international young dental students, newly qualified dentists and general practitioners in the management of gum disease and has given several national lectures on the topic.When Fahd is away from patients, he enjoys experimental fusion cooking which has earned him a few friends but also lost him a few! Fahd also enjoys kayaking and windsurfing.

Lisa is a highly experienced dental nurse who has worked with Mr Bendkowski for over 25 years, starting in his Deptford practice, and working with him in every practice since. Over this time she has gained an extensive knowledge of oral surgery and implantology and is currently studying for her NEBDN radiography qualification. She is very experienced in infection control procedures and holds a St John’s first aid certificate.

Anne has worked as a Dental Care Professional for over 30 years and in that time has covered every role in the dental practice. For the last 10 years she has worked closely with Mr Bendkowski, providing assistance in surgery and throughout a patient’s visit. Anne also liaises with the specialist dental laboratory. She forms excellent relationships with our patients, ensuring that they are comfortable and happy with every step of the procedure. As Anne says, ‘The knowledge that you have improved someone’s life is probably the reason I wanted to be a dental care professional in the first place.’

Laura is our Practice Manager. In 2002 she qualified with a BA Hons in Graphic Design. After several years working in the fashion industry she went on to work as a dental receptionist where her responsibilities included arranging appointments and handling patient enquiries. Working in this busy environment developed her knowledge and understanding of dental treatments and also how to multi-task – a vital skill in a busy practice.She then obtained her Post Graduate Certificate of Education and worked as a primary school teacher teaching children from age five through to eight. Although she loved the job, and it was very rewarding, Laura decided after a few years that it was time to try something new so she took her Certificate in Principles of Business & Administration and then joined us at The Implant Experts. She came to us because, as she says ‘I love learning and I was excited by the prospect of learning about oral surgery and dental implants. It is a fascinating procedure, which clearly provides such positive results for patients.’

Georgina has been working as a Dental Nurse, since she left school at sixteen. Over that time, she has gained experience in General Dentistry, Orthodontics and Implants.
Georgina jumped at the opportunity to work with Mr Bendkowski and she cannot wait to gain the same level of experience that the other dental nurses have achieved working at The Implant Experts.

Gem joined The Implant Experts in July 2015, after working as a receptionist in a busy general dental practice. She was keen to be involved in the exciting world of dentistry and to join the specialised team at The Implant Experts. She thoroughly enjoys being the first point of contact, ensuring all patients and visitors feel welcome and providing support to all team members.
