- Dr Barry RimmerPrincipal Dentist
BDS, DCH, M(Med)Sci GDC no: 61491. He qualified from Liverpool University in 1986 and became a Locum House Officer, then the Dental House Officer at Liverpool Dental Hospital. In July 1987 he became an associate at Dr Chow’s Dental Practice Group in Liverpool where he stayed until he decided to open his own practice in Ashton-in-Makerfield in June 1989. In fact since graduating Barry has attended and completed over 100 courses and workshops covering a full range of advanced dental studies that include Paediatric Dentistry (2002), Periodontology (2005), Endontics (2003-2005), Occlusion and Tempromandibular disorders (2007) and many more. He completed the Iron Man triathlon on the 31st July 2011 in an amazing 12 hours, 42 minutes and 28 seconds. With the support of both family, friends and patients he managed to raised thousands of pounds for charity by completing this event.
- Dr Waris PatelDentist
He qualified from Liverpool Dental Hospital in 1992 and then undertook a year of postgraduate Vocational Training in General Dental Practice. He has worked in general dental practices in the North West since then, apart from a 9 month period when he worked as a resident senior house officer in oral and maxillofacial surgery at Doncaster Royal Infirmary dealing with In patient care and oral-facial trauma and conditions. He has also obtained the Canadian National Dental Licence that was obtained through a series of written, practical and clinical examinations. He moved to Thompson, Manitoba but after a couple of months of minus 40 C temperatures, he realised that old blighty wasn’t too bad and has been with us at the Ashton Practice since 2001. He is currently undertaking the prestigious 2 year post graduate Diploma in Restorative Dentistry with the Royal College of Surgeons. This consists of monthly lectures and hands-on courses on various aspects of restorative dentistry including treatment planning, periodontics, endodontics, removable and fixed prosthodontics.
- Dr Juraj KocisDentist
MUD Bratislava GDC No: 84276. He qualified from the faculty of medicine at the University of PJ Sarafik, Kosice, Slovakia in June 1998 and began practicing dentistry in a private hospital in Slovakia. In May 2001 he gained a Qualification Board Exam – Certificate in Dental Medicine and in April 2004 took a position as lecturer of stomatology, at the dental clinic in the Department of Prosthodontics Faculty of Medicine at the University of PJ Sarifik in Slovakia. Here he undertook lecturing, teaching and supervising medical students on practical dental treatments. In February 2005 Dr Kocis moved to England and began to practice dentistry at the Croston Villa Dental Centre until he moved to Ashton Dental Practice in June 2006. He speaks four languages and has recently completed a ‘Simply Endo’ course on endontics or root canal treatment. He is married with two young sons and a daughter and has recently moved house to be nearer to his place of work. He enjoys spending time with his family and mountain biking.
